My First Prophetic Word

When I was about seven years old, I received my very first prophetic Word. I was standing in my bedroom, gazing into the mirror on my bureau, when suddenly a message came to me:

“You will never die.”

It wasn’t an audible voice, yet it was crystal clear—a word-for-word message impressed on my thoughts.

At that time, my family was dysfunctional and not religious at all. Still, I carried a deep love for God in my little heart. I had no understanding of spiritual gifts or how the Lord speaks. All I knew was that what I heard was unlike anything I had ever experienced before.

The statement itself baffled me. What could it mean that a person would “never die”? Over time, I came to believe that the Lord was showing me I would be among the living when Jesus returns (see 1 Corinthians 15:51–58). To this day, I still believe that is the true meaning of this prophetic Word.

The Bible actually records other times when the Lord gave similar promises. Jesus told His disciples that some of them standing there would not taste death until they saw the Kingdom come in power (Luke 9:27). Simeon, a righteous man, was promised by the Holy Spirit that he would not die until he had seen the Messiah with his own eyes—and that word was fulfilled when he held the baby Jesus in the temple (Luke 2:25–35). And Paul reminded the church that not all believers would die, but that some would be instantly changed “in the twinkling of an eye” when Jesus returns (1 Corinthians 15:51–52).

Yet, there may also be a broader truth hidden in that simple sentence. Jesus declared in John 11:26 (NLT):

“Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this, Martha?”

These words remind us of the eternal life promised to every believer. For those who are born again by the Spirit of God, physical death is not the end—it is only a doorway. We are instantly ushered into His glorious presence, never tasting the sting of death as the world knows it.

Looking back, I now see how precious that first prophetic Word was. As a child, I couldn’t understand its depth. But as an adult, I recognize it as a testimony of God’s promise.
